About the project

Inspire2Action is a five-year initiative that supports civic activism and creates opportunities for increased citizen participation in democratic processes. The project will promote inclusive and diverse citizen engagement in their communities, creating space for meaningful participation in decision-making and deliberative democracy. By amplifying new voices in civil society and expanding resource mobilisation for the public good, this project will contribute to USAID’s goal of helping Serbia become more prosperous and democratic, committed to European integration and self-reliance.

Project activities include:

Providing Resources

Providing resources and building the capacity of civil society to actively engage in solving issues that affect the lives of local communities through a $5 million community grants program.

Creating Opportunities

Creating opportunities for citizens and civil society to directly participate and influence decision-making processes at different levels

Continuing Efforts

Continue national efforts to advocate for value-added tax (VAT) reform to further expand giving for the common good and continue to expand public support and engagement in various giving efforts.

Women's Engagement

Support the empowerment and engagement of women in the promotion of democracy and community development.

Raising awareness

Raising public awareness of the importance of engaging citizens for the functioning of democracy



Encouraging Engagement

Encouraging greater engagement of young people in civil society and at the local community level through internships, scholarships and challenge grants.

Providing Support

Providing quick support to activists in order to respond to needs and challenges in the community.

During a five-year period

The expected results are:

Stimulating interest

Encouraging greater interest and engagement of young people in the work and activities of civil society.

Creating Opportunities

Adopted and implemented specific legal changes that facilitate giving for the public good.

Non-donor resources

More than 250 thousand dollars of additional non-donor resources directed to the common good.

Approximately 500 grants

Approximately 500 grants will be issued to support various community initiatives, including up to 100 grants focused on supporting women's and youth activities.

Participation in decisions

Using the existing mechanism for citizens' participation in decision-making at the national and local level and taking into account the contribution of citizens during the process of making policies and decisions.
